Als ich etwa 8 oder 9 Jahre alt war, wurde an mir\u00a0chronisch-granulomat\u00f6se Entz\u00fcndung des Darmtrakts, Morbus Crohn, diagnostiziert. Bei dieser Krankheit greift das immunologische Abwehrsystem den Darm an. Man sagte mir, dass diese Krankheit unheilbar w\u00e4re. \u00dcber die Jahre hinweg musste\u00a0ich viele verschiedene Medikamente einnehmen, unter anderem auch\u00a0Kortikosteroide. Ich wurde allen m\u00f6glichen dazugeh\u00f6renden Untersuchungen unterzogen, mit Hilfe derer man versuchte, die Symptome zu lindern. Letzten Endes wurde ein Teil meines D\u00fcnndarms entfernt, was mich allerdings nicht vor schlimmen R\u00fcckf\u00e4llen bewahrte.<\/p>\n

Im ersten Jahr meiner Universit\u00e4tszeit wurde ich wieder sehr krank und konnte mein Studium f\u00fcr mehrere Monate nicht fortsetzen. Ich konnte nicht einmal mehr morgens aufstehen. Die Symptome lie\u00dfen dann etwas nach, und ich kehrte wieder zur Uni zur\u00fcck. Doch die Unterbrechung und die dadurch verursachten Probleme bereiteten mir zus\u00e4tzliche Sorgen. Ich f\u00fcrchtete einen weiteren R\u00fcckfall und erkannte, wie sehr diese Krankheit mein Leben kontrollierte.<\/p>\n

Im Oktober des zweiten Jahres\u00a0wurden die Symptome wieder st\u00e4rker, und ich bekam furchtbare Angst. Ich redete mit einer Freundin, die ich von der Oberstufe her kannte; sie war damals schon gerettet und Mitglied der Gemeinde. Sie schlug vor, dass ich zum Herrn beten sollte, da\u00df Er die Schmerzen und anderen Symptome wegn\u00e4hme. Ich war sehr skeptisch im Hinblick auf ihren neu gefundenen Glauben, doch, wie sie richtig bemerkte, was hatte ich schon zu verlieren? Als die Schmerzen wieder einmal zunahmen, betete ich. Sofort nachdem ich die Worte ausgesprochen hatte, f\u00fchlte ich, wie der Schmerz wich.<\/p>\n

\u201eHerr, mein Gott, als ich zu dir schrie, machtest du mich gesund.\u201f\u00a0PSALM\u00a030:3<\/cite><\/p>\n

So fing meine Bekehrung an. Im folgenden Juli wurde ich getauft und empfing den Heiligen Geist. Ohne die verzweifelte Lage, in der ich mich befunden hatte, h\u00e4tte ich mich nie zum Herrn gewendet.<\/p>\n

Etwa einen Monat sp\u00e4ter, als ich bei einer Freundin in Schottland war, kehrten die Symptome pl\u00f6tzlich zur\u00fcck. Das traf mich sehr, und ich konnte einfach nicht verstehen, warum ich das wieder durchmachen musste, obwohl ich doch gerettet war. Gl\u00fccklicherweise war meine Freundin bei mir. Gemeinsam beteten wir f\u00fcr die Heilung. W\u00e4hrend wir beteten, zeigte mir der Herr, dass ich drei Tage fasten sollte, was ich dann auch tat. Die Symptome lie\u00dfen wieder nach und verschwanden schlie\u00dflich ganz. Zu dieser Zeit sprach ich mit einem Pastor der Gemeinde \u00fcber\u00a0meine Ern\u00e4hrung und wie der Herr dazu steht. Ich erfuhr vom sogenannten Danielfasten, welches bei vielen Leiden geholfen hatte. Es kam mir logisch vor, und so fing ich an, mich f\u00fcr einen Monat nur auf nat\u00fcrlicher und pflanzlicher\u00a0Grundlage\u00a0zu ern\u00e4hren. Es war wirklich ein Kampf, doch ich f\u00fchlte mich bald viel besser als all die Jahre zuvor. Obwohl das Danielfasten dem erteilten medizinischen Rat v\u00f6llig zuwiderlief, habe ich seitdem nicht die geringsten Beschwerden mehr gehabt.<\/p>\n

Der Herr hatte mich nicht sofort geheilt. Er benutzte meine Krankheit, um mich zur Wahrheit zu f\u00fchren und mich zu lehren. Er lehrte mich \u00fcber Ern\u00e4hrung, Fasten, Heilung, Glaube und\u00a0\u2013 was vielleicht das wichtigste ist \u2013 dar\u00fcber, dass Er schreckliche Umst\u00e4nde dazu benutzen kann, um dich n\u00e4her zu Ihm zu bringen. Diese Zeit der Pr\u00fcfung war schwer und gef\u00fchlsm\u00e4\u00dfig belastend f\u00fcr mich. Aber ich bin so dankbar, dass ich da durchgehen durfte. Ich habe Seine Kraft und Barmherzigkeit aus erster Hand erfahren. Er hat mich niemals aufgegeben, selbst als ich Ihm dies vorhielt. Allein das zeigt, wie gesegnet wir sind, wenn wir Ihm geh\u00f6ren. Du musst darauf vertrauen, dass Er einen Plan hat und die schweren Zeiten nur zul\u00e4sst, um dich zu gr\u00f6\u00dferen Segnungen zu f\u00fchren.<\/p>\n
