Saved from Sports, Fantasy Worlds & Esoteric

When I was 19 I had filled my life with mainly three things: Sports, Esoteric and Fantasy Roleplaying Games. And each one of these carries great dangers for your soul – of which I will attempt to tell you about from my experience.

I started sports in clubs when I was about 12 and increased the range and intensity with every year. As in sports I practiced among others mainly Tea-Kwon-Do (type of martial arts), Fencing, Dancing, bike-riding, rock-climbing, knife-throwing and wind-surfing.

I did some sort of sport almost every day; the physical achievements gave me satisfaction. I have always had an “all-rounder-attitude”, enjoying the change rather than pursuing one sport 100%. Having all those different abilities made me feel being somebody – somewhat superior.

I absolutely enjoyed the physical exercise – the power that you could feel in your body. Sports are healthy I believed – for body, mind and spirit; about the danger to your soul I’ll tell you further down.

Fantasy Role Playing:

When I was about 14 I started playing fantasy roleplaying games with my friends; we mainly played the “Middle-Earth Role-play”, which is the world of “The Lord of the Rings”.

In a nutshell you play a character whose characteristics and abilities are put down on paper as number values – as well as what he/she carries and owns; the skills of those player characters are often tested with dice against challenges.

Fantasy worlds are typically set in a pre-technological era, what would be comparable to  any time between the 19th century A.D. and say 1500 B.C. of the world we live in, i.e. no machines, engines or electric power etc. – but swords, horses & magic.

Usually there is a group of players, who play their made up characters in a certain “world” – which was mainly Middle-Earth in our case – and one game-master. He is the one presenting the framework of the story or adventure in which the players part-take;  he is not only the narrator but he also relates how everybody else in that fantasy world is reacting to the actions of the players and what effect or consequence those actions have. He thus guides the group through their adventure and decides what happens at any given time; in a way he is the “God” of that world, or the fate or the author of a book that is in the making as you play. And the players are the main characters.

I was absolutely fascinated by the sheer amount of endless possibilities, both – as a player as well as a game-master. I was amazed by the excitement and the experiences you could go through in one evening – or day – or whole weekends sometimes – and all that in your lounge room! They were real experiences: your experiences! There was fear and courage, distress and relief, hate and love, failure and achievement, anger and joy …. everything.

It was different from watching a film, or reading a book or playing a computer game: you were right in it – you lived through it – you could do great and important things – you were somebody! You could do things that were impossible in your present life or which you would never dare to do. And the best: you didn’t come to any harm and everything usually worked out, since the game-master usually turns the chain of events to an enjoyable outcome (…. otherwise he won’t be a game-master much longer if he doesn’t have any players who like to have him as a game-master.)

Whenever I had a few spare minutes I would think about the characters I played, the world in which they lived, I would work out new adventures that I could lead as a game-master and even develop whole new worlds – with oceans, seas, mountains, maps of everything, the societies that live in it with all their wondrous things. So you can imagine that I spent a fair deal of time in those fantasy worlds – and I enjoyed it.

Only sometimes there were those nagging thoughts which troubled me – that it was not only a game; that it touched something deeper and mysterious … and dangerous. I couldn’t help but be in awe of that; I will tell you more in a few minutes.

It was on a beach holiday when I was about 16 that I first came into contact with Esoteric. Esoteric can be said to be an expression used to summarize the “hidden knowledge and arts” – whereas it is hidden only to the spiritually blind and ignorant, but once you start to open up towards those teachings with a searching attitude you become more and more enlightened.

Although there might be 100 definitions I’ll try to show how esoteric presented itself to me: It includes the believe of reincarnation, the reading of signs of any sort, laying cards, horoscopes, yoga, yin & yang – the believe that all is part of one – the good and the bad; universal thinking that believes that spiritual things get manifested in matter, e.g. sickness and disease has its root in the spiritual, that everything also carries a spiritual attribute. From there it leads on to mysticism and magic.

There is the belief that in your reincarnation cycle you have to strife to become “perfect” to be able to reach a state of “godhood” or come back to “God” or “the origin” – from whom you have come in the first place when you started your re-incarnation cycle; to be re-united with “the universe”.

Also there is no “coincidence”: everything happens to you for a reason; so that you can “integrate” whatever you encounter into your being; if you reject it – it will come up again and again in your life; and if not in this life, then in the next – until you have sort of absorbed what you needed to learn …. then you can move on.

I did read books about it with the teachings from C.G. Jung and T. Detlefsen; Detlefsen taught a therapy where you – while laying down and relaxing – would be led back in your memory to lives you have lived before this one to find reasons and solutions for problems that you have at present, either physically or psychologically. And he had results to prove his therapy.

All those teachings sounded reasonable and provable to me and so I started trying to put into practice some of it: and what I tried also worked! I was finding parts of the truth! Truth was something I was longing for – something that made sense of everything. Together with a number of dreams and experiences that I had I was absolutely convinced that reincarnation is real and a fact and part of the “truth” as well as the Esoteric teachings in general; I preached it to my friends and family; and I was on my way to become a psycho-therapist, practicing those beliefs and trying to help other people to more understanding and happiness in their lives and solving their problems. Is this not aiming at a useful & fulfilling happy life?

The State of my Soul:

I thought that I was on the right track to discover more and more truth, find peace and joy for my soul and at the same time help other people – to be able to get to that state of being complete and perfect – back to God – or that state of “godhood”.

Now the confusing thing was that the opposite happened. Although my “transcendental knowledge” was growing I lost my joy more and more; so much so that I could not laugh anymore about something funny; it seemed trivial, profane and silly. I had no peace in my heart; so I thought I must immerse myself deeper into that Esoteric knowledge and mysticism to find more understanding and truth and through that peace.

Friendship and loyalty always had a high value for me, but the more I went into the direction I was going – the more it seemed to separate me from the people around me. I was not happy – although I thought to become more and more “enlightened”. Was that part of it? I did a lot of thinking and what you might call soul-searching. Did I have the right attitude? Were my motives pure and honest? Why is it that I loose joy and peace the more I strife for it?

There I made an interesting discovery with the reincarnation cycle. Whatever you do (once you are aware of it) should serve this one purpose: to become “perfect”; and whatever you encounter in your life should serve as means for it: to advance your “soul-development”; be it through friends, one or more partners in life, even helping others, or means to enlarge your consciousness (like yoga and drugs). So really you were mainly concerned about one thing: yourself. Pretty selfish – isn’t it? No matter how deep you go into it!

Since my soul has come into being somehow through something or somebody, and the aim is to get “back” to that creator or origin through going through that reincarnation cycle and becoming “whole and perfect” – : where is this god right now? Is he (or she) just watching my struggles I have to go through for a few hundred or thousand years? If that is my origin and my goal – can I make contact right now? And How? (And I didn’t mean some spirits or other beings in the spiritual world – but the origin and creator.) I felt left alone by this god; disappointing. There was no god during the reincarnation cycle that would step into your life and help you to become perfect.

So could it be that there were errors in that esoteric world-view; even major errors?

I did remember a number of instances where I experienced some sort of “protection” – or what I felt was rather prevention; I couldn’t really explain it. It was sort of an inward hissing sound with a very strong thought: Don’t do it! (… although from my desire I wanted to!) That kept me from taking drugs, promiscuity, calling spirits, yoga and self-hypnosis several times; and there was a number of other experiences that I had. It was confusing, but I followed that guidance when it occurred.

I used sports also for the “physical counter weight” to the spiritual and achieve a balance, using it as a “way” to get to the goal, as many eastern philosophies teach. With the fantasy role playing I was amazed how our brain could “create” whole new worlds, and I came to sort of belief that these worlds maybe really existed and I just somehow “saw” portions of those other dimensions or parallel worlds; dreams that I had seemed to confirm that.

Yet in the depth of my soul – amongst all these activities and beliefs – I felt lonely and lost. It was more than just an emotion; with all my reasoning I tried to explain it away; my circumstances did not at all point into this direction – I should have been happy … something was going wrong and I could not put my finger on it! What was WRONG??

Entering through the Narrow Gate:

There was that one Friday night when I was at the pub and none of my friends were there; there was a few people I knew, but everything they talked about seemed so vain and empty; so did the music and the beer; so although it was only 10pm I decided to go home.

Not far from the pub an “inner voice” started to argue that I should go to the shopping mall – which was in the opposite direction of where I wanted to go; but since that “inner voice” was persistent I consented to go to the very center of the mall, step on that paver slab, turn around and then go home; just when I wanted to step on the very slab on which I had decided to turn around – somebody shuffed a piece of paper in my face!

Being annoyed by this interruption of my plans I looked up and had this face with a broad grin on it in front of me. With that grin this person asked me: “What do you know about death?” Now this seemed really bizzar! It turned out to be a bible basher. Believing that there is no coincidence I just listened to him for a considerable time; contrary to what I knew of the bible he talked about a Holy Spirit that you can receive from God and that certain spiritual gifts came with it and that the Christian group he was a member of do operate these gifts on a regular basis.

Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (ACTS 2:38)

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit … For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom;  to another the word of knowledge … to another faith … the gift of healing … working of miracles … prophesy … discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues (1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-10)

Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts (1 CORINTHIANS 14:1)

This sparked my interest as I thought that I had come across this now to “integrate” this into my being, at least have a look before I make a judgement on it; had it not been for this thought I would have disregarded most of what that university student had been telling me.

So I asked if I could come along to one of these meetings where they operate the spiritual gifts. On the next Sunday I found myself in someone’s private house in a meeting of about 30 people who called themselves spirit-filled Christians. It was a overwhelming experience; it was not the operating of those gifts of the spirit (gift of tongues, interpretation & prophesy) that impressed me so much; it was the peace, joy, life, sense of purpose & direction, humility, conviction and faith that baffled me; and that talk from the bible with dozens of scriptures made sense and touched my soul – there was truth!

Anyway, I did not want to get carried away by emotions and appearance, getting tricked into some happy-sect that is out for members; yet after all reasoning there was something real with these people and what they believed. So if there is a God after all that you can talk to and that answers – why not try it?

To cut a long story short: Over the next 2 months on numerous occasions God was talking to me with this “inner voice” that made me go into the shopping mall before – answering all the questions that I had, telling me plain truths about the physical & spiritual world.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you(MATTHEW 7:7)

Then I knew that it was time to follow God’s call into a new life with Him, for the saving of my soul from hell, entering into that contract with His Word with all the terms & conditions; and most importantly for me with His promise of help whenever needed. I needed to repent of the selfish life that I had been living and of the sins I had committed to be forgiven freely and to receive the Holy Spirit. After all – even if it was not true and I found out after a while – what have I lost? I wanted to give it my best shot.

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?(LUKE 11:13)

So I was prayed for, I did receive the Holy Spirit with the sign of speaking in other tongues and was baptized on the 24th November 1991. And with it a new life started with power from God.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began so speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (ACTS 2:4)

…on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. (ACTS 10:45-46)

And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came in them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. (ACTS 19:6)

Within the following year God gave me answers and directions concerning the life that I had previously lived; He showed me what I had been saved from … and as said at the beginning this is what I would like to share as well.

Saved from Sports:

I know that this subtitle sounds a bit “rough” – but let me explain. There is nothing wrong with physical exercise, giving your body skill & strength or playing in a team of some sort, or just having fun with the sport. It is ok to be competitive and to achieve.

But when does sports become your god?

When the sport becomes the focus of your life, more important than God himself, when you arrange your life around it.

This might be different for different people; as for myself it was like this:

I was training tae-kwon-do (martial arts) one, two, or even three nights per week in the club, and doing extra training & fitness at home. So I had to ask myself: Why am I doing this? Is it really only so that I can defend myself & others? Or to be physically fit?

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.(1 TIMOTHY 4:8-9)

As mentioned at the beginning this sport gave me self-esteem … and pride; I tried to “be somebody” through my own efforts and this was very important for me; yet as a Christian this fleshly pride is the worst enemy you can have – this is why Luzifer – the highest angel –  fell from God, rebelling against Him and became Satan. As a child of God you can also trust in His protection and guidance; how could you defend yourself against a fallen angel with martial arts?

… angels, which are greater in power and might (than us)(2 PETER 2:11)

Well, and all the training also takes a lot of energy & time; God’s Word admonishes us to redeem the time; so was I contributing to God’s Kingdom, following Jesus’ commandments  to help others – or was I concerned with myself? It dawned on me that I needed to make a decision in my heart: will I serve God or myself? On one occasion I put a fleece before the Lord to find out His will for this issue if I should let the martial arts go or not – and since the outcome was to let it go – I did let it go … which did not come easy at first.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil (EPHESIANS 5:15-16)

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.(COLOSSIANS 4:5)

With the combat fencing – which I always liked – I suddenly lost the interest; as if it was taken away out of my heart; I used to spend one night per week training & combatting in the club and enjoyed it – but now it seemed vain & empty; so I sold my gear and that was the end of that.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. … Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. … so fight I, not as one that beateth the air(1 CORINTHIANS 9:24-26)

I used to go to the dancing lessons & training two to three times per week on top of the tea-kwon-do and fencing; originally I started the dancing lessons to overcome my shyness towards girls when I was about 15; but I really enjoyed the dancing itself as well as the body contact with the girls. Again I had to ask myself: Is what I am doing to the glory of God, does it benefit anyone? Or is it just pleasure for myself? Does God encourage physical contact to lots of girls or should you rather stick to one?

So after getting converted I stuck to one girl and did a few dance classes with her only – thinking that if she gets saved as well she could become my wife. But over 8 months or so it became clear that she did not want to follow the truth, but do her own thing.

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.(MATTHEW 5:28)

(They) shall receive the reward of unrighteousness  … having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; (2 PETER 2:13-14)

Since the answers were pretty clear I let the dancing go as well – and it was not too hard. What happened was that the Holy Spirit was changing my heart – bit by bit – and what I found was not the loss of past pleasures but the gain of that inner peace & joy that I had been longing for, a fulfilling life with purpose according to God’s plan.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.(PHILIPPIANS 2:13)

All the other sports I did only occasionally, but since my new life in Christ kept me engaged in meaningful activities I did not miss them.

When I said: “saved from sports” it did mean for me being saved from selfishness and vain zeal and glory which all end up in hell; there is no room for love in selfishness & pride – so there is no room for God, for God is love.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love(1 JOHN 4:16)

Saved from Fantasy Role Playing:

As described above I spent a lot of time in those fantasy worlds – of which I’d like to tell you about the dangers to the soul.

So what could be so bad about it?

I played a number of fantasy role playing systems as well as a science fiction one. Fantasy worlds are usually ruled by the sword & magic. When you create a player character you can choose various “careers” which include warrior, ranger, magician, bard, cleric, animist etc. and/or skills that your player character develops.

There is many positive sides to role playing: it develops your imagination, creativity, problem solving skills, team work, planning & preparation skills for trips & events; you are interacting with other people life rather than with a computer or watching TV or a movie.

It is a great social activity I find, to come together with friends and play a game.

Looking at the belief systems of all the fantasy worlds I came across there was a general “good & evil” in the spiritual world, sometimes gods similar to the ancient Roman, Greek, Egyptian etc. mythology. Evil is often represented by various sorts of monsters or beings that use magic in an evil way, like the “dark side of the force” in Star Wars. Usually the player characters are on the “good” side, using their physical weapons or the “good side of magic” to go through their adventures. Many player characters have access to spells and spell lists and all have access to magical items, even a warrior fighting with a magic sword that gives him extra strength for example.

Of course – if you fight against evil in the form of monsters – you kill them with whatever means, and any “servants of evil” just the same; so there is a lot of killing going on. And if you can use some sort of “white magic” this is very welcome, too; and you don’t even have to have a bad conscience, neither about the killing nor about the use of magic.

Other adventures might lead you to pursue some noble aim or solve a mystery, hunt some treasure to get rich or get hired for a task to earn a living. There are always challenges of great variety along the way, which is what makes the game interesting; yet I haven’t come across an adventure without a good fight or the use of magic.

I also have never come across a roleplaying game which is acknowledging Christian morals & values, playing in the world that was created by Almighty God – the Creator of the Universe and Life. You might say: “… but it is just a game!” So what does a roleplaying game do to you? Apart from the above mentioned benefits – are there any negatives?

As a law everything that you experience will have an effect on your character & soul; be it a real physical experience, be it reading or hearing about or seeing others go through an experience (through books, news, TV, movies, being an eye-witness), or be it playing a game, even a virtual one in your mind; the experiences can still be real.

In fantasy role playing you get led to solve problems – apart from being smart – often with brute force based on your skills; or with using a spiritual mystic force, which is just as reliable as the sword or bow in your hand and you can use it at your leisure.

Now these experiences will translate into your soul; I have seen players living a “double-life”; in this world being gentle, nice with good morals – and in the fantasy world turning into a blood-thirsty merciless warrior; another turning into a powerful pitiless wizard. Of course you always have the excuse that it is not yourself doing it, it is your player character … and you yourself would never do that. Other players just behaved in this world as they did in their fantasy world and lost a bit of sense of reality; but I think that would be the minority.

But is roleplaying not living out part of your character that is otherwise hidden? If you didn’t have the mind of a thief – would you ever think of stealing? I believe that you identify with your player character a fair bit – why otherwise would you choose & play this character? It is like a movie actor: he identifies himself with the role he is playing – at least to a certain degree – otherwise he will not be credible. So would you do things with your player character that you don’t enjoy or would partially do the same; would you have your player character do something you don’t want to do? Think about it …

Even if you don’t use magic in this world – it is in your mind as a means to achieve an aim, and given the right circumstances you might feel inclined to use it; much more than somebody who never came into contact with magic of any kind.

In those five teenage years that I did play fantasy roleplaying games I was often confronted with the above issues; I did try not to live a double life, but do in the fantasy world which I would do in this and the other way round; for some reason I always hesitated using “my spells” that my player characters had; yet that magic prepared the way for the mysticism of the esoteric that I encountered two years after I started role playing. Yet there always was that “inner voice” that seemed to keep me away from delving into that magic.

After becoming a Christian I experienced that there is indeed only two sources of spiritual power you can tap into: The power that comes from God and His servants – and the power that God has given to Satan and his servants.

The power of God is clearly laid out in the Word of God (the owner’s manual) with all it’s terms & conditions. One of the terms is that we can’t use it just at our will – but according to God’s Will. This power is given for one purpose: to serve & help others – never for selfishness. It is the Holy Spirit in you that exercises this power.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven. (LUKE 10:19-20)

… be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (EPHESIANS 6:10)

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. (1.CORINTHIANS 2:4-5)

And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.(ROMANS 16:20)

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.(MATTHEW 22:29)

Satan will give access to his power, also at his will – with one purpose: as long as it leads you away from God & His power. And Satan will exercise this power through a spirit; it might have the appearance that you have some power yourself, which is not the case; Satan has been a deceiver from the beginning, the angel of light, a liar – and the father thereof.

… for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.(2 CORINTHIANS 11:14)

… Satan, which deceiveth the whole world (REVELATION 12:9)

… the devil … was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him … for he is a liar, and the father of it.(JOHN 8:44)

Looking at the fantasy role playing worlds, they get you accustomed to the use of satanic power, even in the appearance of “good”; and the use of your own strength & will.

Yet it is only God’s power that can save you from your sins, and there is nothing that you can do out of your own strength with doing good works and trying to be a good person that can save your soul. Even less looking for powers that promote selfishness or the basic satanic law: “Do what thou wilt.” in opposition to: “Do God’s Will.”

For by grace ye are saved through faith; and not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (EPHESIANS 2:8-9)

Your soul does get altered by what you do, say and THINK. Fantasy roleplaying games lead you away from God – and the salvation of your soul.

Just another comment: In science fiction the magic is replaced with some super high-tech achievement with the same effect. Star Wars is an excellent fusion of this science fiction and “white & black magic” in form of the two sides of the “force”. It surely is two sides of the coin; but the coin belongs to Satan – no matter which side you are on!

Saved from Esoteric:

For three years I was exploring this “worldview” through books, talking to people and experimenting with some things myself. As I wrote in the subtitle “The State of my Soul” there were a few things that were not conclusive for me.

I did find parts of truth in what I came across, and was expecting to – at one stage – find the whole truth. How much of the truth do you have to take away to make it a lie? Is it 70%, or 50% or only 25%? How long do you have to follow a road until you discover it is a dead end? If a witness under oath in court gives a testimony which is 95% true but he lies in the essential 5% to convict the accused – would he be counted as telling the truth or being guilty of perjury?

There is a lot of philosophies out there, the world is full of it; most are man-made, a number are being delivered from the spiritual world through spirits, angels or channelers or mediums, or people who have opened themselves up to certain areas of the spiritual world. The question I am asking is: where does your philosophy come from? How much of it is just speculation and theory? How much of it is provable truth? And if there is bits of truth in it – does it mean that this is the whole truth?

For example a horoscope might be 80% right, but fail in the 20% that are decisive for your life. A fortune teller might tell you all about your past 100% right (which he could not possibly know under normal circumstances, unless another spirit told him) and tell you about your future and you find that things he said are coming to pass; so you find reason to believe the rest of what he said about your future life & death; how do you know that this is the truth – or if those events can have a change of course with a different outcome?

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.(COLOSSIANS 2:8)

I am trying to show here that when it comes to eternal truths we can not rely on human speculation; nor on mystic revelations from doubtful sources of the transcendental world.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 CORINTHIANS 4:3-4)

Looking at reincarnation (of whatever kind) there is this element of coming to the perfection of yourself – through whatever means the respective philosophy teaches; but it will always be: self.

A lot of questions remain un-answered: who created the souls that are in the reincarnation cycle? Where do they go when they have completed their cycle? Where does this universe come from with all it’s physical and spiritual laws? If there is no good and evil – how do you judge a criminal if there is no right and wrong? How can you make laws to rule a country? Where do you set a standard or measure for spiritual things and physical things?

It boils down to the fact that everyone is his own god, or setting his own standards and limits in morals & understanding – and bottom-line: Everyone does what is right in his own eyes. Which is exactly the basic satanic law: “Do what thou wilt.”

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience (unbelief). Be not ye therefore partakers with them. (EPHESIANS 5:6-7)

The Conclusion of the Matter:

As mentioned in the subtitle “Saved from Fantasy Role Playing” Satan does have certain powers given to him which he will use to try to get you on any path – just not the narrow one leading to God’s Kingdom and to Heaven – that place of re-union with God in Love.

Satan will give you parts of the truth to lure you in whatever direction; we are not only physical beings with physical needs, but also spiritual beings with spiritual needs … which we are looking to satisfy. This can be done in a way that is pleasing or comfortable or exciting for us. Through the calling of spirits or ghosts, spirits of the dead, using a channeler or medium, doing seances or masses – or pagan or satanic rituals you get in direct contact with the spiritual world; or through books and movies like Twilight or Harry Potter; or through just opening yourself up to that world through drugs, meditation or yoga. Others choose to lay cards, do horoscopes or similar.

Whatever means are being used, we usually think that we are in control and can do things at our leisure and that we choose the right way for ourselves.

This is deceiving in a couple of ways: firstly, how can we – that we know so little about this universe – possibly know what the truth and the right way is? Secondly, we are not in control of those spiritual powers. The power given to us is the power of choice (free will) and believe (faith) and some limited creation (with our mind & spirit).

As long as Satan gets you to NOT make a choice for God and put your faith into action under God’s power you will remain under his kingdom & power; your sins will not be forgiven and your soul will not be saved from that place called hell – which was made for Satan and all his followers, since he chose to not serve God under His will; so that is where all the humans go as well that make the same choice.

… Satan, which deceiveth the whole world (REVELATION 12:9)

… the devil … was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him … for he is a liar, and the father of it.(JOHN 8:44)

… everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels(MATTHEW 25:41)

… God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell(2 PETER 2:4)

We have got the choice to live and die under Satan’s power with all his deceiving lies, insisting on our SELF – or to give up our SELF, live and die under God’s power, living and serving others and God according to His will in LOVE.

For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. (1 CORINTHIANS 9:19)

If you look at Jesus Christ’s character, the character that is described in the bible from cover to cover, can you ever find a more perfect example for Love, Mercy, Grace, Forgiveness, Righteousness, Truth? What religion or philosophy can offer anything better?

And what if there is no reincarnation cycle? What if the life you are living now is the only one there is? And should you not (even if there is this reincarnation cycle) life your life at it’s best and perfect? So why take a chance if your eternal destiny is on the cards?

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. (HEBREWS 9:27)

I tell you – it is just that men thinks it is “too harsh” to give up his selfishness and own will that makes him seek for anything else but the full truth – with all it’s consequences. But once you have decided to enter through the narrow gate you will experience God’s care and get you ready prepared for a perfect life with Him in Eternity.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.(MATTHEW 7:13-14)

So again, also in regards to Esoteric, I have been saved from self into God’s Kingdom by His Grace and Mercy.

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation? (HEBREWS 2:3)

Be wise, take courage, and in faith make the right CHOICE.

… where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.(2 CORINTHIANS 3:17)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.(JOHN 14:6)
